Recurrent Esotropia
An unusual form of
essential infantile esotropia which recurs to
the same angle despite multiple operations. It
is fortunately rare, among the factors that could cause such a
condition one must consider an increase of
uncorrected hypermetropia, a deep-seated
anomalous retinal correspondence, nystagmus
blockage by convergence, an unstable AC/A ratio,
or a blind spot syndrome. None of these factors
could be implicated in all patients and the
cause of recurrent esotropia remains unknown.
Persistently recurrent esotropia is an unusual
occurrence in patients with infantile esotropia.
Satisfactory ocular alignment can be achieved in
most patients, but several surgeries may be
necessary to achieve this.
